Painting a single sunflower, or a vast field of sunflowers, is a playpen for a palette knife. A chance to experiment in planned happy accidents. Very exciting in and unto itself' to stroke pure primary colors into deep impasto to create three-dimensional magic on canvas. The result in every spontaneous stroke can be masterfully beautiful, and can be destroyed by the next stroke. For this painter, painting a flower is playing Russian Roulette with a knife. It is not the tool for the faint of heart.
